GENERAL BUSINESS RESOURCES

Canada/Manitoba Business Service Centre (CMBSC) - is a partnership between the Government of Canada and the Province of Manitoba delivering services in Manitoba on behalf of 38 federal governmental departments and organizations, 13 provincial government departments, and five private sector partners. The C/MBSC provides one-stop shop for all your business information needs, including a comprehensive and free business seminar series.

Managing for Business Success - the Web portal for owners and managers of small and medium-sized businesses who need sources of practical information, tools and advice for just-in-time solutions to their management challenges.

Self-Employment Program - To provide unemployed Employment Insurance eligible individuals with income and entrepreneurial support while they develop and implement their business plan.

Manitoba Companies Directory - This site contains in excess of 1,000 Manitoba organizations and is searchable.

The Manitoba Marketing Network - The Manitoba Marketing Network - is a private/public partnership between members of Manitoba's business community and the Manitoba Department of Industry, Economic Development and Mines.

The Manitoba Business Information Service - The Manitoba Business Information Service is a portal linking several searchable business databases.

Women's Enterprise Centre - The Women's Enterprise Centre of Manitoba (WEC) has helped thousands of women throughout the province find information, improve their skills and acquire financing so that they can start, expand or purchase an existing business.

About Employment Standards - The Employment Standards Branch is a neutral party that administers laws on minimum wages, hours of work, holidays and other workplace benefits.

Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba - The workers' compensation system is an accident insurance system for employers and workers, established early in this century to replace the tort system (through the courts) for determining compensation for workplace injuries.

Workplace Safety and Helath Division - The Division administers seven Acts and associated Regulations dealing with the health and safety of workers, protection of the public from unsafe mechanical and electrical equipment and fuel-burning appliances in buildings, and the licensing of tradespersons in the Province.

The Canada Council for the Arts - Grant Programs for Aboriginal Artists and Arts Organizations - The Canada Council for the Arts offers programs to support artists and arts organizations in creating and presenting their work. A priority is the development of programs that meet the particular needs of Aboriginal artists.

First Nations Bank - They are committed to providing a total banking relationship by fulfilling your complete banking needs and working diligently to maintain a high level of customer service.

Louis Riel Capital Corporation - Louis Riel Capital Corporation (LRCC) is a Manitoba Metis owned and controlled Aboriginal Capital Corporation (ACC) established in the fall of 1992.

Tribal Wi-Chi-Way-Win Capital Corporation - Tribal Wi-Chi-Way-Win Capital Corporation has been established to provide financial resources to qualified member Aboriginal entrepreneurs and businesses in Manitoba.

Aboriginal Business Service Network (ABSN) - The Aboriginal Business Services Network (ABSN) is being established, using information and Internet technologies, where possible, to provide a range of business products and services.

CESO Aboriginal Services - CESO is a unique, not-for-profit organization which transfers technical and managerial expertise to Canadian Aboriginal Peoples, businesses and communities.

Aboriginal Planet - Aboriginal Planet Business Centre - The Aboriginal Business Development (AIBD) Committee is pleased to provide this, the Second Edition of the Directory of Aboriginal small- and medium-sized enterprises that are either active exporters or export-ready. The first edition of the directory was released in 1999 with a listing of 218 companies. The second edition contains 470 firms.

Procurement Strategy for Aboriginal Business - Indian and Northern Affairs Canada -

Aboriginal Resource Guide/Entrepreneurship autochtone: Guide des ressources - The Canadian Banker's Association (CBA), with cooperation of DIAND has developed a "Resource Guide". This user friendly tool is designed to aid Aboriginal people's search for information they require to develop or enhance administrative and financial skills in order to increase their capacity to successfully use the services of financial institutions.

Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) - The Canadian Youth Business Foundation is a national charitable organization that empowers aspiring young Canadian entrepreneurs, age 18-34, to start up their own business.

MB4Youth Division - Young Entrepreneurs Program - Young Entrepreneurs is designed to encourage Manitoba's young people to start their own full-time businesses and pursue self-employment as a career choice.

SEDI - SEDI stands for Social and Enterprise Development Innovations.  It is a non-profit organization that assists people who are struggling economically. SEDI motivates them to aim higher and develop the tools they need to achieve their goals, in partnership with community groups across Canada.

Momentum - Momentum is a Community Economic Development (CED) organization that offers hope and opportunity to people living in poverty. MCC Employment Development is a not-for-profit society that has been partnering with low-income Calgarians to develop their productive futures since 1991.

Center for Social Development - CSD is the leading academic center of theory and research on asset building, i.e., strategies that promote saving and investment (in contrast to income and consumption).

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation - Backed by 60 years of experience, the CMHC works with community organizations, the private sector, non-profit agencies and all levels of government to help create innovative solutions to today's housing challenges, anticipate tomorrow's needs, and improve the quality of life for all Canadians.

Economic Developers Association Manitoba (EDAM) - The Economic Developers Association of Manitoba will provide a medium of conference and interchange of ideas on principles, practices and ethics in the field of Community and Local Economic Development in the Province of Manitoba.

The Ethical Funds Company - The Ethical Funds Company T is Canada's most comprehensive family of socially responsible mutual funds with approximately $1.5 billion in assets under management.

Halifax Regional Development Agency (HRDA) - The Halifax Regional Development Agency is one of thirteen Regional Development Agencies in Nova Scotia. Established in 1995, the Agency provides assistance to entrepreneurs and non-profit organizations in the rural and suburban areas of HRM.
